Are There Some Diets That Will Never Work?

Why do some diets work for you and me, but not for your next door neighbor? Some diets plain don't work for anyone. Dieting is funny that way isn't it? Losing weight seems to be the most popular thing to do today. The diet will always be around until science can genetically alter our genes at the chromosomal levels. Dieting is mainly thought of as a woman issue or problem, but you would be mistaken. Men are in the same shape as women are today. Less exercise and more stress, lead to more bulging waistlines.

Men exercise to attract more women or their wife, whereas, women feel more self conscious around other women, since their brains like to compare their body to another woman's body. Some women, do however, like to make their husbands happy and stay in good shape for them. For the most part, it's a man -woman problem.

Diet has a connotation in that it brings up suffering through eating lot's of foods that are tasteless and in tiny amounts for weeks at a time. How droll? Therefore, dieting is like running the New York marathon and your out of shape, so good luck making it past the finish line. Anybody who says it's easy to change your lifestyle is probably full of it.

We are all human and foods tempt us daily, and it's not fair that some people have higher metabolism and therefore, burn fat faster. You should also get your hormone levels checked to see if you have any abnormal levels. For example, if you have hypothyroidism, your metabolism will be slow and you'll gain weight. Now, if you have hyperthyroidism, your metabolism will be super fast and you'll burn fat like crazy.

There are so many diets that are so bland like cabbage soup diet or grapefruit diet that you just can't do for a long time, so good luck changing your lifestyle on those diets.

Genetics plays a super important role in that if you have two obese parents have an 80% chance of being overweight themselves. Now if you have two normal weight parents, then your offspring has only a 15% chance of being overweight.

Everything in moderation, that's the key here folks. Don't eat fried foods every day and think you'll lose weight. This way your not going to miss it and go through depression that you can't have it. If you like ice cream, try eating it once or twice a week rather than every night and you will shed some weight. Don't eat huge portions and try and eat 4-5 smaller meals throughout the day to keep your blood glucose levels and insulin levels normal. You don't want to spike one like when you have a lot of sugar like eating a birthday cake and then your blood sugar goes up and your insulin which now has to get pumped into your body to get that sugar level normalized. Making the right choices in life is what gets you through the finish line at the end of the marathon race we all call life.

Less Sleep Equals Heavier Kids

Well, here's another excellent reason to get your children to sleep early: More sleep may lower their risk of becoming fat. Researchers have found that every additional hour per night a third-grader spends sleeping reduces the child's chances of being obese in sixth grade by 40% . If there was a magic number for the third-graders, it was nine hours, 45 minutes of sleep. Sleeping more than that lowered the risk significantly. This is yet another reason to enforce bedtime. In experiments by Van Cauter and others, sleep-deprived adults produced more ghrelin, a hormone that promotes hunger, and less leptin, a hormone that signals fullness.
