Can Money Make You Lose Weight?

One recent study does suggest that people will lose more weight for even a little bit of money when it's involved, interesting. This study which can be read in the September issue of the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine learned that cold hard cash incentives can be a big success even when the payout approached seven dollars for dropping even a couple of pounds in few months. This research involved around two hundred obese employees at couple of colleges located in the state of North Carolina, and they were divided into 3 groups. One group received zero incentives while the other two groups received seven dollars or fourteen dollars for each percentage point of weight lost for the individual. Findings show that employees who received the most incentives lost the most weight, an average of nearly five pounds after 3 months. Those offered no incentives to lose weight only lost two pounds; those in the $7 group lost about three pounds.

Those in the $14 group were more than 5 times as likely to lose five percent of their weight based on this study. Therefore, it can be proven that money can drive people to lose weight, so maybe diet companies should offer cash incentives for each pound shed in a given time. What do you think about that?
