Energy Drinks
Do you ever see enough of those TV ads on all the energy drinks or power bars? It's enough to drive you bonkers. Advertising today is very powerful, because they can convince you that you need their product. The question you have to ask yourself or an expert is do I need this energy drink or power bar to sustain me through the day. The answer is No!
Many people believe through advertising of course that weight will melt off your frame if you replace a meal with this energy drink or power bar. That's not healthy to do all the time. Our bodies need food. Companies need to generate revenue to sell more is to make more regardless of your health. If your not going to work out, then eating a power bar for energy is a big waste of time and calories. Many see their favorite star or athlete push these products and it makes you think you can look like them. That's just plain wrong. As long as you eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise 3 times a week for 20 minutes you'll be okay.
When I was in my teens I picked up a popular muscle magazine and wanted to look like one of those muscular bodybuilders, well maybe not that big, but you know what I mean. Alas, I purchased those terrible tasting protein power drinks and mixed it in the blender with some milk and forced it down. Well, I never did wind up with that chiseled physique I so wanted when I was younger. My point here is simply this, just because you see a star drinking a certain product or snacking on a power bar, won't make you look like them. They received their body's through years of tough training and discipline and genetics that most of us were not blessed with. Therefore, be happy with what you got blessed with and work with that by eating right and exercising. This is a tough road, make no bones about it, but with some discipline you will make it, slowly but surely.
For about every 30 minutes you plan on exercising, you should drink about 16 oz of a sports drink. It takes about 40 minutes to absorb this, so drink it before you work out. Eat one an hour before you go exercise.
If you are the average Joe who doesn't like to work out, but use power bars for energy, then let me explain something. You are wasting your money. You aren't getting any real benefit from these power bars. You might be getting some energy here and there, but it is all a waste of money. You can gain the same amount of energy with a good diet. Take all of that money you are spending on this stuff and put it to good use.
Why am I talking about these things in such a negative manner? Because I don't like to see people fall to the hype of marketing. You don't need this stuff. Instead you should focus on a healthy diet. That includes snacks of fresh fruit and veggies. That will give you energy and won't rob your wallet. Make sure that you are eating right and you are getting enough rest at night. There is no need to waste money on such products. |
